Reading into the New Year {Guest Posts and Giveaway}

At the beginning of December I was thinking of a way to thank all my loyal readers for stopping by everyday and reading my reviews (and to celebrate my upcoming 1 year blogaversary that happens to take place on February 1st!). I knew I wanted to thank you all with a giveaway but I wasn't quite sure what to give away. Frankly, I've been a little tired of giving away $10 book of choices, so I was hoping to make this one a little bit more specific. That's when I approached a few fellow bloggers with their 2012 YA picks! This is what they had to say:

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

"I haven't actually read the Iron Fey series yet. Shocker, I know, I'm getting to it. But this cover just screams at me. I love vampire fiction, I haven't read enough to be tired of it yet, and I particularly love stories about new vampires finding their way. I can't wait to get my hands on The Immortal Rules it just looks absolutely fantastic!"

Touching The Surface by Kimberly Sabatini

"This story has a little of everything that I enjoy in YA novels; death, reincarnation, secrets, forgiveness and love. It's also listed in the 2012 DAC Debut list, a bonus if you;ve joined the challenge! And...isn't the cover beautiful?!"

Taken by Storm by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

"I absolutely love Jennifer Lynn Barnes' Raised by Wolves series and the second book, Trial by Fire, kind of left me hanging as to what would happen next. I have yet to find a description of the book to try to get more information as to what is coming, but I know that regardless of what happens I'm almost guaranteed to love it. I love the characters in this story and May can't come soon enough so that I can find out what happens next to Bryn and her wolves."

"Lurlene McDaniel is my favorite author. I have read every book by her that I have been able to get my hands on. I love each and every one of them. She has inspired me to start writing myself and given me the passion to help others. Her books are the reason why I cut my hair to donate to lock’s of love and pursue a career in Nursing. "Nevermore was a fantastic read and completely enticing, so I am really looking forward to its follow-up, Enshadowed. How could I not? Varen's stuck in the dream world and Isobel is trying to help him - to do that, she decides to travel to Baltimore, a city which Poe had a strong connection to and where he was laid to rest, to find the Poe toaster, the mysterious person who annually leaves roses and French cognac at Poe's grave site on his brithday. Isobel already knows who this person is and she knows he can help her save Varen. As if all of that was not amazing enough, I live in Baltimore, so how can I resist Enshadowed?"

For Darkness Shows The Stars by Diana Peterfreund

"I'm not entirely sure I can explain why I'm obsessed with getting this book as soon as I can. (It may or may not have something to do with the fact that this author has written books about unicorns. I'm quite a fan of unicorns.) But this book sounds exactly like the kind of book I'd love - a mix of dystopian/sci-fi/romance, and it sounds really original. Not to mention the amazing cover!"

"I've always been a fan of fairytales, but I especially love when authors get creative with the stories. That's why I'm excited for Marissa Meyer's CINDER in 2012! Set in New Beijing, with Cinderella as a cyborg, Meyer's cast of characters will alternately make you swoon, giggle, and even fume... though in this version, a wicked stepmother is the least of Cinder's problems.

And one of the best parts? CINDER officially releases in stores on January 3, 2012, so the wait is almost over!"

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

"Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood is my most anticipated book of 2012. Why? Two words: THE COVER! I have never seen a more beautiful cover, not to mention one that completely captures and reflects the story. Put that cover together with the synopsis and how can you not want to dive right in to the world of the Cahill sisters?"

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

"Wendy wanted to know what my MOST anticipated read for 2012 was. This was the easiest questions I have been asked in a long time, and of course anyone who knows me even slightly well will not be surprised by my choice. Since Divergent by Veronica Roth was my pick for best read of 2011 (as you can read at my raving review of it) it should come as no surprise that my most anticipated read for 2012 is Insurgent, book #2 in the Divergent series. It picks up right where Divergent left off and I am just giddy with anticipation waiting for the day I can finally crack open this book!"
